Matson Walter is the founding principal of LINK landscape architecture, a full service landscape architecture practice based in Los Angeles.  A licensed landscape architect with 20 years of experience, Matson is a seasoned designer and project manager who has worked on high-profile local, regional, and national projects.  His past projects have been recognized not only for their design excellence but for their positive role in community building and place making.  LINK is a certified Small, Local Business (SLB) with the City of Los Angeles and a Small Business (SB) with the State of California.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Matson received his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Iowa State University. Upon returning to Southern California, he led projects with some of the city's most distinguished landscape architecture firms including Meléndez and Pamela Burton & Company.  His expertise covers a wide range of civic, educational, recreational, and residential projects.  He has been a member of large, interdisciplinary project teams including the LAPD Police Administration Building Team that received the "Building Team of the Year Award" from the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.  Other notable project experience with past firms includes the Santa Monica College Quad, the Pasadena Convention Center Expansion, and the Stanford University CCTP/ACP.

Since founding LINK in 2006, Matson has built a practice that is rooted in the belief that landscape design can physically and philosophically connect our built environment and the natural world.  As the founding principal and design director, Matson is involved in every phase of new projects.  His experience organizing and executing projects from conceptual design through construction documents allows him to take on a diverse range of projects incorporating urban design, site planning, site grading, recreational sport design, streetscapes, storm water management, landscape assessment, comprehensive planting plans and sustainable landscape design.
